Gretna Soccer Club

Parents: please help us protect the quality of our fields.  There are 3 things we need your help with:

1) Making sure kids do not climb or hang on the goals and nets. These nets are expensive, at $75 each.  When kids climb on them like a jungle gym at school, they tear holes.  When you see someone climbing on a net, please ask them to stop.

2) Similarly, for their safety, do not allow kids to hang from the crossbar of the goals,  Each year, there is a child or two that die from a goal falling over and striking their head.

3) There are to be NO practices at Leo Royal on our game fields, except the sessions that the Director of Coaching Digger Hawkins or paid trainers conduct.  If your coach is asking your team to meet at the fields for a practice, that is wrong. Remind the coach, or call one of the Board members listed in the tab above.  These game fields took years to create, and they are the only ones we have.  If all 90 teams ignored the rules and practiced on those fields, we soon we have poor quality for our game conditions.

We are under incredible pressure for additional practice space. The fields at the Middle School are getting a lot of overuse and are getting worn out. **No teams are allowed to practice on any of the Middle school fields until AFTER 6:00pm on any evening**We highly encourage the use of other facilities. Also, Tue/Thurs seems to be a popular night. Your flexibility may give you better options for available field space. We depend on everyone’s willingness to share and be unselfish. We have taken 6 general field locations around the City and split the space into smaller fields with goals. We believe these should accommodate each team. We are asking you to do your part and only use the space ABSOLUTELY necessary.  Putting cones out and staking out an area that is much larger than a 30x40 yd field is unnecessary. If the adjacent field is unused, feel free to spread out. However, if a team arrives and space is limited, we ask that you do your part in being a good club soccer coach and community citizen. As a general rule of thumb, these smaller areas easily accommodate any Micro-U10 team. Older age teams (U11+) with 16-18 players can reasonably assume use of an adjacent field.
