U8-U19 GSC Select

U8-U10 JUNIOR SELECT

The Gretna Soccer Club U8-U10 Junior Select teams are not tryout teams. Players take part in at least two Free Developmental Clinics and we will look to form as many GSC Select teams as possible dependent on the number of players interested in the GSC Select program.

It is our philosophy to group players in terms of similiar ability and place them in leagues that will certainly develop them as soccer players. Technial Fundamentals are stressed at this age group including dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, tackling and defending giving each player a great foundation for the future.

The objective of the GSC Select Program is to provide a higher degree of competition, develop a player further through more focused training, clinics and games. We want to expose teams to an atmosphere that encourages development; 3v3, tournaments, indoor. We also want to offer an afforable means to accomplish this, vs several hundred close to a thousand for Omaha-based and Lincoln-based teams.

Here in Gretna we provide ourselves on having a strong community and Gretna Soccer Club is no different. Throughout the year GSC Select teams of the same age and gender will practice together and attend camps together to help build strong relationships throughout the entire age group.

The U9-U10 GSC Junior Select teams will participate in the ENSA (Eastern Nebraska Soccer Association) League. Games are typically weeknights and general play 8 games per season. U9-U10 teams participate in 6v6 format with 1 Goalkeeper and 5 Field players. Teams will generally participate in anywhere between 1-6 tournaments per year.

Each U9-U10 team will work with the Director of Coaching David 'Digger' Hawkins, Assistant Director of Coaching Travis Dyson or one our Club Trainers at least twice a month at no added cost.

Practice schedules and Tournaments will be determined by the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Director of Coaching Digger Hawkins and the Assistant Director of Coaching Travis Dyson.

U11-U19 SELECT

Originally the Gretna Youth Athletic Association and now the Gretna Soccer Club has been in existance for nearly 30 years. The GSC Select program was formed 7 years ago and our experience tells us that players develop faster when they are on a team with players of similiar abilities.

The objective of the Select Program is to provide a higher degree of competition, develop a player further through more focused training, clinics and games. We want to expose teams to an atmosphere that encourages development; 3v3, tournaments, indoor. We also want to offer an afforable means to accomplish this, vs several hundred close to a thousand for Omaha-based and Lincoln-based teams.

All players attend tryouts in June. The U11-U13 generally have tryouts on 2nd weekend in June and U14-U19 tryout last weekend in June after Regionals. At tryouts our selection team consisted of the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Director of Coaching, Assistant Director of Coaching and Evaluators will make sure that every kid is placed on a team where we think is their best fit and they are going to develop the most.

The top ranked players are placed on the top GSC Select team and this is generally determined by the number of players that the Head Coach wishes to take. The remaining players are assigned to the Second Select team and so on. Every team is focused on developing its players to their full potential. For those that do not make a Select team we have Recreational teams so that everyone has a place to play.

Again throughout the year the GSC Select teams of the same age and gender will practice together and attend camps together to help build strong relationships throughout the entire age group.

All of our teams compete in the Nebraska Soccer League (NSL) whether it be in Premier, Division 1 or Division 2, all teams are placed at their appropriate level.

Over the past few years the Gretna Soccer Club Select program has gone from strength to strength and we will continue to do so by building on the recent successes of the club. These include:
